Getting started

Add your first brand

A brand is one website you track. Adding it sets up both sides of Presence Scout at once. The AI answer engines and Google search rankings. So you can see where you show up today.

Steps to add a brand

  1. 1Click "New project" at the bottom of the left sidebar.
  2. 2Enter your website: just the domain, without https:// or www (e.g. hubspot.com). This is the domain we look for in Google results and AI citations, so it must be exact.
  3. 3Enter the brand name as customers write it. Add alternative spellings under “Also known as” so every variation counts as you.
  4. 4Choose the target country and device. Answers and rankings are localised to that market.
  5. 5Pick what to track: Google search keywords, AI answer engines, or both. The fields below adapt to your choice.
  6. 6Review the suggested prompts and keywords: we read your site and propose them for you. Edit or remove any that do not fit, and add your own.
  7. 7Add competitors you want to benchmark against. You can change these later in Settings.
  8. 8Click Create. Nothing is checked automatically, so no credits are spent yet.
Right after creating a brand you are asked whether to run the first checks. That is the only point where credits are spent, and the cost is shown before you confirm.

Why each field matters

  • Website: every rank check and citation match is measured against this domain. A typo (for example .org instead of .com) makes keywords read “Not ranked” and hides your citations. You can correct it any time in project Settings.
  • Brand name and aliases: how we detect a mention in an AI answer. Missing aliases undercount your visibility.
  • Target country: AI answers and Google results differ by market. Set the country your buyers are in, not where you are.
  • Competitors: used across the Overview chart, the Competitors page, and share-of-voice. Tracking none still works; you just lose the benchmark.
