How it works
How the numbers are calculated
Every figure in Presence Scout is counted from checks you actually ran. Nothing is modelled, sampled or filled in, here is exactly what each metric counts.
The definitions
- Visibility %: checks where your brand was named, divided by all checks in the period. One prompt on three engines counts as three checks.
- Prompts mentioned: prompts naming you at least once on any engine, divided by prompts checked.
- Cited as a source: grounded answers that linked to your own domain, divided by all grounded answers.
- Top 3 / 5 / 10: your best position in the AI's running order of brands, taken across engines for that prompt.
- Share of voice: of every brand named across your checks, how often each one appeared. Brands are detected by name and by the aliases you set.
- Google visibility: a weighted score from your positions across tracked keywords, so ranking #1 for one keyword does not read the same as ranking #40 for forty.
- Est. traffic. The one modelled number on the platform: your position combined with search volume against a standard click-through curve. Treat it as a directional estimate, never as measured traffic.
Why a number might look wrong
- A gap in a trend line means no checks ran that day. We never interpolate to make a chart look continuous.
- Visibility dropping after you added prompts is normal, new prompts start unmentioned and dilute the average until you win them.
- Missing aliases undercount you. If the AI writes your name differently to how you did, add it under Settings → Also known as.
- A wrong brand website hides both rankings and self-citations, because both are matched against that domain.
